I've been using the cut-out slots to mark darts and pocket placements, and they really keep my drafting consistent. The ruler is sturdy enough to handle daily use without slipping around on the paper.

I grabbed this for adjusting a vintage skirt pattern, and the cut-out slots made marking darts so much easier than fumbling with a separate curve template. The hip curve side glides across paper without slipping, which I honestly didn't expect from a plastic ruler. It's become the first tool I reach
